Our meat chickens come from a local source. We pick them up the day they are hatched. In that case, they don’t need to be cramped in a box for 2-3 days. As they arrive at our farm, the chicks go straight into their pre-heated home—a brooder we built on our own—with a layer of wood shavings, fresh water, nourishing feed, and heat lamps. After around three weeks, we open up the run so they can go in and out to get used to the outside. At about 4 weeks of age, the pasture with fresh grass, a shelter, and sunlight is waiting for them. Our meat birds have enough space to enjoy the next 4-6 weeks picking bugs and feed from a local farmer. We don’t rush them to be fed up and ready for butchering after 3 weeks. To ensure the best possible quality for our customers, we butcher the chickens on our own instead of putting them tightly in crates to drive them 3.5 hours to the nearest processor. We believe they deserve a stressless life from the first minute on our farm until their last minute.
All of our chickens are free from antibiotics, hormones and vaccines.
